Governments Invests in Alberta's Value-Added Future
The Government of Alberta, Forintek Canada Corp., and Western Economic Diversification Canada have announced funding for a five-year partnership, called the Alberta-Forintek Alliance, to coordinate initiatives aimed at enhancing value-added activities in the province. This partnership was announced in a joint news release on April 22, 2005 and is one of ten projects funded through the Western Economic Partnership Agreement (WEPA).

AFPA Supports Future Foresters
The AFPA has teamed up with CAREERS:The Next Generation to examine ways to promote careers in forestry with the youth of Alberta. On April 20, 2005, representatives from the forestry industry, local school boards and post secondary institutions (U of A and NAIT) met in Peace River with the to launch a pilot program that will help students make informed choices on their careers, potentially in forestry occupations.

Junior Forest Wardens celebrate 75 years of Forest Education
This summer, Junior Forest Warden families and friends from across Canada will be gathering from July 10th to 17th to commemorate the program's seventy-fifth anniversary. This year's National Campout is within Alberta's Boreal Region, which has been selected as the 2005 National Forest Capital of Canada. In the heart of Alberta's magnificent boreal forest, Camp Wright is 2.5 km north of Long Lake JFW Camp.
