Your CKUA!
As you’re likely aware, CKUA has taken a financial hit recently and this has caused us to make a number of changes around your independent and listener-funded Alberta radio network. But rather than mope, we’ve decided to take the proverbial lemon and turn it into great … whiskey… wine … fruit punch! So, beginning March 1st you will see a re-design of some parts of the weekly CKUA program schedule that we are very excited about – and we think you will be too.
Read on for more on the changes we are very excited about.
Celebrating a new world class gallery: the Art Gallery of Alberta

On Sunday, January 31st from 10am till noon, CKUA broadcasted live from the foyer of the spectacular new Art Gallery of Alberta. As part of a new collaboration between CKUA and the AGA, CKUA Road Home host, Bob Chelmick, was able to bring Albertans and the world (via the Internet) a glimpse into the exhibits, the programs, the architecture and the wonder that is the new AGA. Located directly inside the main entrance, Bob Chelmick spoke with some of the very excited participants involved in the new building and even more excited patrons who got a first look beginning at 9am that morning.

Time flies - 10 years already!
My goodness, can it be 10 years since Monica Miller took to the airwaves weekday afternoons to craft a radio program she called How I Hear It? Yes, it can. CKUA celebrates the 10th anniversary of How I Hear It on Monday, February 22nd, from 12:15 to 3pm. Tune in to see how we celebrate! We guarantee it will be lots of fun. Send Monica good wishes here.
And speaking of 10th anniversaries, another familiar voice is marking the occasion. In early March, Allison Brock will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wide Cut Country with a special live broadcast from the new Ironwood Stage and Grill in Calgary. Listeners are invited to the Saturday morning, March 6th on-location broadcast from 10 am-noon. Allison invites fans to "Come on down and enjoy pancakes, syrup, and some of my special friends like Stephen Fearing." First come, first served at the show. In the meantime, you can send your anniversary wishes to Allison here.
Double Your Dollars!
Are you keen to be a leader in the CKUA community? Do you want to contribute to the excitement and success of our upcoming Spring Campaign? We know that donors wait to hear that their gift will be matched. This is a huge factor in each of our campaigns. The greater the Double Your Dollar pool, the more magnificent our success will be. And you could be the catalyst that encourages other donors to call in and support CKUA.
For a minimum donation of $500 you can be a part of a program that effectively generates excitement and financial support for CKUA. Interested? Call Laura Svajlenko at CKUA’s Fund Development Office 1-800-494-2582 ext. 2030. We would be happy to explain all the details and take your donation of support. Thank you for your consideration, we simply could not do it without YOU!
