The list of Job Shadow Hosts is Available

Are you interested in spending Reading Week with a Job Shadow Host learning about the day-to-day realities of a field, gaining valuable advice and insight and making industry connections? Job Shadow Week matches you with a community-based professional for a workplace visit during February’s Reading Week (February 16 to 19, 2010). The list of Job Shadow Hosts is now available on CAPS website and you have until Monday, January 25 to apply to have a Job Shadow host. If selected, you will spend from one to four days during the designated week with your job shadow host.

Think it’s too early to start looking for a summer job?

Think again. The Summer Job Fair is coming up on February 4 from 10 to 4 p.m. in the Butterdome and CAPS already has job postings up for summer work. The summer job postings are in addition to the multitude of full and part time positions available upon graduation. CAPS job postings can be sorted by faculty, duration, full time, part time and keyword. Be sure to check the job postings often as they are updated daily. 

Check out a career forum

Every semester CAPS offers a range of career forums that explore different disciplines and the possible career paths available upon graduation. This semester is no exception with 12 career forums. Each career forum includes five to six speakers talking about their career and offering a day-in-the-life glimpse into their work.

Students are often surprised by the array of careers represented on the panel, sometimes not ever knowing some of them existed.  The connection speakers make between the skills learned at university and the skills used in the workplace are invaluable as they help students understand the value of their education and the importance of transferrable skills. Speakers are eager to share tips on being more employable by outlining volunteer and extracurricular activities that compliment in-class learning.

By attending a career forum, students gain a better understanding of the job market. This is exciting and motivating for students at every stage of their education - whether they are just starting their post secondary journey or approaching graduation. Medical Multiple Mini Interview Days

The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is unfamiliar and challenging for most medical school hopefuls and requires you to answer complex questions evaluating ethical decision-making, communication, critical thinking, and knowledge of the healthcare system.  You will experience a simulation of the MMI and receive both verbal and written feedback on your answers.
