Today marks the start of CKUA’s Fall Campaign – and we’re so happy to have this opportunity to connect with you in celebration of radio for Albertans, by Albertans! We’ve got lots of fun events planned along with some terrific prizes to express how much we appreciate your support.

Corb Lund Live on CKUA
Attention all Corb Lund fans! Alberta singer/songwriter/poet and cowboy Corb Lund will be co-hosting our fundraiser with Allison Brock at 2 PM on Sunday, October 19th! He's bringing his guitar and if you light up the phones and computers with pledges, he'll play live on-air - a serenade of appreciation for CKUA supporters!
Tune in for what promises to be a fun-filled hour with Allison and Corb this Sunday and get in on the action by pledging your support for Radio Alberta, CKUA.
Mulligan Stew Live from Calgary with special guest Donald Ray Johnson
We're only a week and a day away from Mulligan Stew - LIVE from Calgary! We hope you'll join us at the Auburn Saloon next Saturday, October 25th, from 6pm until the wee hours for a great evening of music and fun with your fellow CKUA supporters.
Terry David Mulligan and Lionel Rault host a special live edition of Mulligan Stew from 6-9 pm, and Donald Ray Johnson will keep us dancing for the rest of the evening. We’ll have some fun with music trivia and host a music-themed silent auction, and many CKUA personalities will be in attendance, including David Ward, Baba, Allison Brock, Tom Coxworth, Tony King and more!
There’s no admission charge for this event, but the Calgary Friends of CKUA will be taking pledges for the campaign – donations are welcomed and encouraged!

Special Events for Fall Campaign
During the Fall Campaign stay close to your radio (with occasional trips to your phone or computer to make that pledge!) as we’ll have some very special guests stopping by:
Saturday, October 18th - Senator Tommy Banks is in Edmonton to receive the prestigious Hall of Fame award from the Western Canadian Music Alliance. We celebrate his illustrious musical career, as he joins Holger Petersen live on Natch'l Blues at 3:00pm.
Monday, October 20th - Roy Forbes will be in the Edmonton studio as he presents a special two hour campaign edition of Roy's Record Room at 6:00pm with guest host Lark Clark. Tune in as Roy fires up two turntables for back to back 78rpm action.
Thursday, October 23rd - Craig Korth presents a special two hour edition of Fire on The Mountain from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with guests performing.
Tuesday, October 28th - Michael Asch, future host of our upcoming Smithsonian Folkways show, Folkways - My Father's Record Company, will join Lark Clark in studio from 6:00 to 8:00pm to bring us a sneak preview. Michael’s father, Moses Asch, was the driving force behind the Smithsonian Folkways record collection, a copy of which is housed in Edmonton.
Friday, October 31st - Tune in at 8:00pm as ghostbusters Andy Donnelly and Chris Allen explore the presence of the storied CKUA ghost through music and chilling stories of CKUA staff encounters. At the end of the show, they’ll go into the basement with a webcam for a "close encounter". It promises to be an entertaining hour.
Telus Dollars for Dollars Program
CKUA and TELUS representatives celebrate the latest gift from TELUS employees who donate through TELUS’ Dollars for Dollars, Community Support program. The cheque, in the amount of $25,358 was presented during a small ceremony held at CKUA studios in Edmonton. In recent years, TELUS employees and retirees, with the help of matching dollars from TELUS, have contributed almost $200,000 to support CKUA, Alberta’s listener supported radio service. In 2008 alone, TELUS and its employees contributed more than $780,000 to charities in Edmonton; $1.54-Million throughout Alberta; and $5.3-Million to charitable organizations across Canada, via the Dollars for Dollars initiative. CKUA thanks TELUS and its employees and retirees for their outstanding community spirit and their generous support of CKUA Radio! Wonder if your company matches donations?
