CEO Compensation

By: Don Safnuk, President & CEO, Corporate Recruiters Ltd. don@corporate.bc.ca

Pitch and Catch

Nothing gives early stage technology CEOs hives more than standing in front of a bunch of angels or VCs and pitching their company.  It is far easier to do it in front of one investor, in the relative comfort of an office with an hour on the agenda.  But 12 minutes before the hook comes out is usually not enough time for any entrepreneur to, in their minds, effectively hit all the high points of their company.  To make things worse, there has never been, in the 100 or so of these events I have attended, a single investor jump up and tackle the presenting CEO with a cheque in their hand.  If there is not enough time and no one pays you when you are finished, then why do it?

A number of years ago, CRL was pleased to recruit George Hunter for the BC TIA Presidency, and knew that his departure would leave extremely large shoes to fill. The association had grown and evolved significantly under George's leadership, and the new President would be asked to continue that legacy and venture into new areas as well.

Corporate Recruiters recently completed the search for a new President for BC TIA resulting in the appointment of Mr. Rob Cruickshank.

WINBC and CRL present to you WINBC's new President: Sang Mah

At WINBC, the challenges were different, but no less important. In the maturing wireless sector, it was critical that the newly appointed President be someone with excellent sector specific background, and a vision for the future.

Again, Corporate Recruiters' investment in the wireless community, from its infancy to the present, ideally positioned us for the search.

Working with industry leaders, community activists and the connections made by Corporate Recruiters in the wireless world, we were pleased to conclude the search resulting in the appointment of Ms. Sang Ma.
